Introduction
One year after the Black Knight's defeat ...
The Village of Dawn is in grave danger. Not only two of the village's special items were stolen, but the great and wise Village
Elder Of Dawn has missing for months without a trace. Soon after, Goblins and Orcs have appeared and begun terrorizing the
village, and even worse are the bandits, for it is said that their mysterious leader is invincible, he can heal his wounds in seconds!
A brave local spy was able to return with vital yet horrifying information, that in two weeks the bandits will attack with full force
to completely take over the Village Of Dawn! In these desperate hours the Guildmaster Of Dawn had no choice but to send a
messenger for help to the nearby village, Dew.
They suffered and they prayed.... and now in their most critical moment, YOU are their answer, the hero who saved the island
by defeating the Black Knight a year before. By the time you arrive at the Village of Dawn, you have only 8 days left until the
bandits invade. After gathering some information while eating breakfast with the Guildmaster, you start your adventure to save
Dawn....
The Mission
Find the High Priest in the Temple and have him create a Dispel Potion, then find the Bandit Lair and defeat the mysterious
Bandit Leader in his own turf, but you must hurry, time is running out !!!
Jack Darwid proudly presents exciting games for you to enjoy !
This game was inspired by an old (yet great) RPG-Adventure computer game I really like (I like everything in this game ! A 10 out of 10 game for me !).
If you recognize the phrase 'Hut Of Brown Now Sit Down', then you know what I mean (do you ?) Answer : HERE or HERE
This is my goal for this game:
a. "a ONE player fantasy adventure card game"
Still my favourite theme. This time I want to add the freedom of movement for more adventure feeling. Sadly I must drop the 'role playing' part of this game because I (still) can't
combine the gameplay.
b. "No bookkeeping, no token, NO DICE, just you and the cards and an adventure."
Yes, as compact as always ! And without the dice, I want to do something different. This idea has shown up before when I designed Island Of D, but couldn't adjust it to the game.
Now, I make the game based on this idea (hand management)
c."Not just luck factor, but a game about choices".
Always the hardest part. Many people tell me that Island Of D is (still) a dice-fest, not enough strategy. Hmmm... I think I have made an improvement here, at least they can't say
that IOD2 is a dicefest, because I use no dice hehehe :P Just kidding, folks, as always your feedback is a great welcome !
In my experience, IOD2 has more strategy and if you play well the winning percentage should be around 20%.
d."Fun"
One of the hardest goal, and differ from one person to the other.
As always ... (Mission Impossible style, please hum the MI theme song !)
The pictures used in this game are taken from many sources (yes, without permissions, hey ! this is a FREE game). Any complains made (please, please don't), and I will
change the pictures.
... good luck Jim ! (this is no American Pie's Jim, watch MI the TV series !)
Q: Is this game the same as Island of D?
A: No, IOD2 is a different game than Island of D. Island of D has more Role-Playing feel, and The Shadow Of Dawn has more Adventure feel. Both games have a very different
gameplay. The only connection is the storyline, and that both games happen in the Island of D world.
